Real Reality

For those of you who are big fans of the "home" reality shows please remember these shows are not 100% reality.

The show that makes me shake my head the most is "Flip This House". I watch these shows and can see right through the "produced" elements. It's very obvious the discussions between house flipping "cast" and contractors is semi-scripted. It has also come out in the news that some of these "flips" were staged and the "cast" never actually owned the house or even sold it.

Another one favorite is "Extreme Makeover". Yes, they build houses for good causes but the reality of building a complete home in a week is very doubtful. I'm sure there is plenty going on before the "week" starts that is not shown.

Just remember, when venturing in your project, be sure to ask your contractor questions on timeframes as TV tends to warp away from "reality" even though they call it reality.
